Chemistry is a branch of science that deals with the structure, composition, properties, and interactions of matter.

Among the various branches of science, this branch deals mainly with the constituents of matter.

How these elements behave or how they react to the presence of other elements are the main topics of chemistry.

Chemistry primarily focuses on molecules, atoms and ions and gives an idea of ​​how they form elements and compounds. The way in which these elements combine, form bonds, or alter the internal structure of matter while forming elements or compounds is a subject of discussion in chemistry.

Different branches of chemistry

There are 5 main branches of chemistry. These are: -

1. Organic Chemistry

2. Inorganic Chemistry

3. Analytical Chemistry

4. Physical Chemistry

5. Biochemistry

Organic Chemistry

Organic chemistry is a branch of chemistry that deals with the formation, properties, attachment, and synthesis of hydrocarbons and hydrocarbon molecules. These compounds are called organic compounds. Hydrocarbons generally refer to organic compounds rich in hydrogen and carbon. Other branches of chemistry related to organic chemistry are: -

Medicinal chemistry

discusses the structure, design, development and synthesis of medicines used in medicine. Organometallic chemistry - discusses the chemical compounds that bind carbon and any metal.

Polymer chemistry

discusses polymers.

Physical organic chemistry 

discusses the relationship and structure of organic molecules.

Stereochemistry - discusses the spatial arrangement of atoms in molecules and its effects on the chemical and physical properties of matter.

Physical Chemistry

Physical chemistry is a branch of chemistry that deals with the effects of chemical structures on the physical properties of matter. This branch of chemistry generally deals with the rate of chemical reactions, the interaction of molecules with radiation, and their structure and properties.

Other branches of chemistry related to physical chemistry are: -

Photochemistry - discusses the chemical changes of matter under the influence of light.

Surface chemistry - discusses chemical reactions on the surface of matter including absorption, heterogeneous catalysis, colloid formation, corrosion, electrode processes and chromatography.

Chemical kinetics - discusses the rate of chemical reactions and the effects that affect the rate of reactions.

Quantum chemistry - discusses the motion and mathematical description of the interactions of subatomic particles. It also discusses the amount of energy, the wave-particle duality, the principle of uncertainty and its relation to chemical processes.

Spectroscopy - The study of a substance or the study of the chemical changes that a substance undergoes.
